We purchased this house on sight 13 years ago because of its spectacular view. The house is on 3 acres with a pool and terraced landscaping. We are on a hillside outside of town - a car is needed to go shopping. An outdoor patio includes dining table and chairs, and lounge chairs for the pool. The upstairs has two bedrooms sharing a full bath, and a full bath and bedroom downstairs. A separate powder room is also on the first floor.

There are many ways to arrive at the house: by plane to Paris or Nice, and then from there either by train or by car. We usually fly nonstop to Paris, then Paris to Marseilles, rent a car there, and drive up A7 toward Lyon - about 1.25 hours to the house. When we depart, usually we plan a day or two in Paris. We fly Avignon to Paris Orly, stay a while, and then depart Charles de Gaulle airport nonstop to San Francisco. Avignon flights are more frequent out of Orly, and we don't want to change airports upon our arrival to C.d.G. The auto rental agencies allow you to pickup in Marseilles and drop off in Avignon.

Alternatively from Paris, stay one night at hotels near the Gare du Lyon and take the morning TGV to Avignon. We have found that it is not possible to fly from the West Coast and arrive in time to take the afternoon TGV the same day, so a stay in Paris for one night is necessary if you want the TGV to Avignon. Previous renters have said that you can take the TGV direct from London to Avignon during the summer.
